| General conditions of the Alxa League |
| Located in the far western part of the Inner-Mongolia Autonomous Region of China, the Alxa League borders Wuhai, Ordors and Bayannur cities on the east, the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region on the south, the Gansu Province on the west and the People's Republic of Mongolia on the north. With a total area of 270 thousand square kilometers, it has Alxa Left Banner, Alxa Right Banner, Ejina Banner under its jurisdiction with Bayanhot as its capital. With a population of 200 thousand people consisting of 17 nationalities such as the Mongolian, Han nationality, Manchurian and many others, the League is located on the Alxa mesa of the Inner-Mongolia plateau, an inland arid and semi-arid area in the northern temperate zone, where the eastern part is high and western part is low in topography and the elevation is 1000 to 1400 meters above the sea level. The physiognomy is mainly composed of desert, Gobi desert and wilderness prairie, each constituting one third of the total area. The Badain Jaran, Tenggeli and Ulan Buh Desert passing across the whole area with an area of 84,000 square kilometers ranks the second in China and the fourth in the world. With a long history of more than three hundred years, the League abounds with vast area, multiple resources in land, special forests, minerals, livestock products, precious biological medical species and tourist spots, all of which possess big potentials and bright prospect for development. |

| Alxa League is rich in tourist resources, including the physiognomy of desert with Badain Jaran as its representative, dream-like canyon in the west, Haisenchulu and Habucigai hoodoos, Eribugai canyon as the main physical geographical landscape; Helan Mountain virgin forest and desert xerophyte plants such as Ejina diversiform-leaved poplar forest, Haloxylon Ammodendron forest and Chinese tamarisk, desert oasis, wildness prairie as the main scenery of the biological landscape; the Juyan ruins and Juyan culture, Mandela Mountain rock pictures, Helan Mountain rock paintings and ancient temples ruins as the main demonstration of ruins and vestiges; Eight temples including Helan Mountain Guangzong Temple (the South Temple) and Bayanhot Stadium as its main architectural buildings and facilities; Yellow River, Black River, Juyan Lake and multiple lakes spreading all over the deserts as its main water area landscape; local customs, nationality etiquettes, songs and dances, fineries, diet customs, religion activities and festival celebrations as its main performances to show local folk custom culture; Helan Mountain Lepista mucla (Bull.:Fr.) Cooke, desert cistanche and its products, Alxa strange stones, quartz and agate and their handicrafts, nationality handicrafts as its main tourist products. All the above constitutes the main tourist resources of Alxa League. |
